A little note for you.🤍
This is for you who has been nervous about when it will all come together. You are exactly where you need to be, remember you’re on your own unique path. Your measure of how well you’re doing in life shouldn’t be based on the pace your life is moving in comparison to others, but rather making the most of every phase you find yourself and trusting that at the right time, everything will come together. Remember God’s pace is always best, with time you will see the beauty in your process. The seemingly barren will become beautiful. We’re in this together. 🫶🏾

Am I Behind Or Do I need to be Patient?
Recently, I travelled to Florence and it was so beautiful! I went for my cousin’s wedding and it was honestly one of my most anticipated trips. From the outside looking in, one may have thought that this trip was perfect but it was FAR from it. When I arrived, it turns out my suitcase had been left in a different city! I had no spare clothes on me. No makeup, no accessories, literally nothing. Bear in mind the wedding was in two days and the welcome dinner on the same day I arrived. I was truthfully frustrated and just kept on wondering why? Why couldn’t I get my suitcase like every other person and have a smooth trip?
Anyway, I enquired at the airport and eventually went to search among different suitcases to see if there was a possibility mine had come on another flight. I remember seeing two suitcases which were the same brand and design as mine and instantly saw a glimmer of hope. Only to be disheartened again. Almost there but not quiet. Isn’t this how we sometimes feel on our journeys? Feeling like we’re almost there, or everyone is receiving what we’ve been expecting, but we’re let down? I honestly understand. If you read my last newsletter, you’ll remember I shared that in times like this, it’s great we have the perspective that all things are working together for our good, even in moments we don’t understand.
Navigating the Wait, Putting Patience into Practice
Eventually I headed back to my hotel because there was no chance of me receiving my suitcase on that day. I was so upset! But also torn between making the most of the evening and celebrating my cousin. Or choosing to stay worried all night and panic if I would receive my suitcase the next day. I nervously chose the later knowing that I would regret spending the whole trip sulking, but wow I so nervous. Before I slept I read a post from one of my favourite blogs, The Power Closet, which spoke on waiting and trusting God to come through for us just at the right time. I’ve put an excerpt of the post below. It reminded me of God’s faithfulness. There are situations in life that take place and all we can have is crazy faith. How we wait is truly what matters. Do we spend it complaining? Grumbling? Constantly agitated? Or do we take on the perspective that even situations where we don’t know how, when or where, it’ll come together? We have God who is the orchestrator of all time, uniting the cords to play the perfect melody in our lives. He is the best conductor. So even when we don’t understand why a particular note is playing next, we know the sound it releases will be beautiful.

The Power of the Wait
Waiting can be hard. The frustration at times and even the constant wonder of how our lives will pan out. These days I’m learning to embrace periods of time where life is not as fast paced and simply take it a day at a time. In phases like this, we give ourselves room to ask ourselves the why behind our wants. Is it to prove something to ourselves? Others? Or do we have more genuine reasons for our desires? In periods of waiting, we’re often faced with sides of ourselves we never knew existed. We see our character and what we’re really made of when we’re pressed on all sides. It can be hard going through this process but I believe it is worth it because eventually everything comes to the surface. Leaning into acceptance and making necessary changes is key. We may even notice that our self worth and identity was tied to having it all together, or constantly being aware of the next step. But in phases in life where we truly know nothing about what is next but the present moment, can we choose to trust the process? Our lives are unfolding daily. Therefore a brief intermission in our stories, is not a closed chapter. We’re simply navigating the in between. Let’s persevere and gain all that we need to in the process, it’s worth it.
Preparation in the Process
Eventually I attended my cousin’s dinner and honestly I’m so happy I didn’t allow myself to be consumed by my feelings. It was such a great time! The next morning I woke up with such a deep sense of peace that I’ll receive my suitcase. I headed to the airport and of course, it was right there, waiting for me. Bear in mind there was no assurance given by the airport staff that I would receive it the following day, all I had was faith that God will turn the situation around in my favour. Though this is about me receiving my suitcase, I believe this lesson can apply to our everyday lives and I’ll explain how. Often we’re waiting for something. It could be a promotion, a new role, the right time to relocate etc. Over time I’ve learnt that who we’re becoming determines if we will be able to sustain what we are preparing to receive. Our posture as we wait, is part of the preparation process. Sometimes God could use this period to test our faith in Him. The verse Romans 4: 20-21 is one I hold unto in waiting periods.
‘Abraham did not focus on his own impotence and say it is hopeless. This hundred year old body could never father a child. Nor did he ever survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God will make good what He said’.
This is the story of a man called Abraham in the Bible who had been waiting on God to fulflil His promise to give him a child despite being a hundred years old and his wife showing no signs of fertility. I chose this verse to highlight the importance of our attitude when we’re waiting for promises to be fulfilled in our lives. I know it can be hard, but let’s be patient and prepare. Let our daily actions align with what we want to see in our lives and choose to lean into the process of character development. God will perfect all that concerns us. I’ve also noticed, that sometimes God allows us to go through seemingly impossible situations, to turn them around and make it clear that He alone is the cause of beautiful turnarounds in our lives. In spite of hazy situations, the dust eventually settles and the landscape becomes clear.

As I’ve shared my mini story I hope one thing you are assured of is, no process is wasted and eventually everything comes together at the right time. Remember your life is accounted for, no author publishes a book without completing it. It’s the same way you’re not placed on this earth with an incomplete story. God the ultimate author, has a beautiful story He has written for your life. As you journey through the chapters of your unique story it will all unfold gradually. So whenever you find yourself in the middle of a cross-road, remember your future is already settled.
Enjoy the present, there’s beauty in it. Even when you feel uncertain about tomorrow, be at peace knowing it will be best for you. You have a colourful life to live, make the most of every season because seasons change. What you may have space for today may not be the case tomorrow.
Here are some reminders to hold unto for the new week:
Your story is being beautified daily, embrace your process.
No two timelines are the same, be at peace with yours.
Patience, Process and Preparation- three phases we all need to embrace.
🦋 All things concerning your life will be made beautiful in its time and when it does, you’ll be thankful for the process, it’s for your good.
