There are moments we all pass through in life where we have to stop honestly and ask ourselves, are we truly living lives that are true to our design? Or are we simply replicating what we have seen because of the fear of stepping out of a predescribed box? This is a question I’ve had to honestly answer this year and it’s a guiding one as I journey into the second half of the year.
Each of us have been placed here to fulfill our God given purpose. From the interests we have, to what excites and moves our hearts, it is all for a reason. But will we choose to honour the inner tug or blend in with others because of the fear of standing out? Reading that back, standing out is a blessing. It shows your uniqueness, colour, it’s what makes you, you. A lot of the people I truly look up to are those who have chosen to live their lives in a way that is tailored to them and this is clear because I haven’t seen what they walk in replicated by anyone. They’ve defied the odds on what is possible and blazed trails that others haven’t, at least not in the way that they have, and that is simply because they stayed committed to their God given vision. Our paths are customly written by God, but are we willing to be true to our design even when our lines do not look like our neighbour’s?
On the topic of living lives that are truly ours, I’d like to share my newest venture which is so dear to me and it’s a true labour of love. If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know about Uncovered Conversations, a platform I started in 2021, dedicated to youth empowerment. If you know me, you’d know I love all things regarding founders, entrepreneurship and connecting others with opportunities. Over the years we’ve hosted numerous conversations with founders, but now we want to put you in these rooms, beyond listening in from your screens. I’m launching our pilot internship programme, where we’ve partnered with small businesses and founders to give you a curated experience. This is so new, and I’m excited to take this leap, apply here and use the referral code RX7P9H. More details below:

Circling back to today’s newsletter, your best life is found in God, it’s found in the life He has given you today. Of course there are areas that we see and mentally wish could be better, which is understandable. But again, the best life we all wish to have, begins with how we see our present moments. Perspective truly shapes how we respond. Often times the restlessness or a lack of willingness to wait for what is truly ours, comes from glaring at movements taking place in the lives of those around us and then wondering where do we fit in? But the truth is, living our best lives is found in living out lives that are truly ours. Not lives that are being duplicated, not birthing things from a place of envy or comparison, but in stillness, where we allow God pour out His plans for our lives and we walk accordingly. One of my favourite Bible verses is:
“Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!”
Psalms 37:5 TPT
It reminds me of the importance of alignment and surrendering even when it doesn’t make sense to us. This verse also points to our need to release what we think is the best path and let God, who really has the driver’s seat, stir the wheel. This in and of itself, is an act of faith, it’s choosing to walk on water, even when it doesn’t logically make sense, but from the lens of faith, there are no barriers to what is possible.
On Walking on Water
You might be reading this and you’ve had a tug on your heart for a while to step out in faith in a particular direction. It may not make sense to you fully. You may have never seen yourself moving in that direction before, others too may be confused, but I want to encourage you to take that step anyways. It might be shaky. It might be tear filled. It might not be taken in the perfect conditions, but it doesn’t mean you’re not taking the right step. We have to be willing to unlearn who we thought we should be, to truly step out to become who we’ve naturally been wired to be. You have no idea what is waiting for you on the other side of your obedience. This scripture emodies this so perfectly,
Luke 5:4-6 ‘When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
Peter had been trying his own for so long, yet when Jesus directed his to HIS place, there was a harvest that even him couldn’t have imagined. We should always expect exceedingly and abundantly. But are willing to leap even when we don’t know where will land? The how however, will be graceful— right in the palm of God’s hands.
Living the lives we dream of is found in the words of life we speak even in the midst of chaos. It’s in our heart postures when we’re unhappy about the pace of our lives. It’s in how we choose to face each day with courage knowing that though today may not be all that we wish, surely the rains of favour will pour, and lines are still falling in pleasant places for us regardless.
